in my suitcase: a full list of the products i packed
10: makeup, skincare, bodycare and haircare - everything I packed for a long trip abroad
Instead of sharing my empties, I’m sharing a full list of all the products I took with me for a months-long trip across the pond. With limited luggage space (I took one check-in luggage and one carry-on), I had to be intentional with what I brought with me. While away, I can’t sift through the many products in my drawers or shelves in my medicine cabinet at home - I had to edit them down to my absolute must-haves.
As I do with my empties and closet favorites, this round-up is behind a paywall, reserved for those who really want to know what I’m using - instead of sharing with thousands on Instagram, some who may be tempted to make a purchase on a whim.
Below you’ll see my signature fragrance, the new sunscreen I’ve been wearing daily, the serum and gua sha combo I’ve been using for years, the brush that helps me slick back my buns, my go-to cleanser, concealer, and smudge-proof mascara and much more.
Remember, please only click on and purchase what you really think you need. If you already have a cleanser, don’t order another one. If your skin is just fine, don’t mix it up. And if you are tempted to buy any of the below, take a few days to think about it before adding to cart. Also keep in mind that these products are ones that may work well for me and my skin, but may not necessarily be the best for you! Always consult a dermatologist to best speak to your skin’s needs – I had avoided a derm for years and wish I had seen one sooner as I now finally know what’s going on with it.
Also — only 8% of all plastic is recycled and plastic used in skincare and beauty is even more difficult to recycle, especially those small tubes, bottle pumps, and mascara wands. Instead of dropping them in the trash or the blue bin at home, I keep a bag under my sink for empties and drop them off at a nearby Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack, as they recycle skincare and beauty packaging with TerraCycle.
