in my closet: my top 5 most worn bags
05: starting at $155, the bags I always have in rotation
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed that I often reach for the same items over and over. Maybe I’ve leaned more into what I like and feel my best in, maybe I’ve gotten sick of keeping up with all the newest trends, maybe I want to spend less time standing in front of my closet wondering what to wear, or maybe it’s all of the above. So in this series, I share the items I constantly rewear and in this particular piece, the 5 bags that are *always* on rotation… and as a plus, the secondhand and vintage designer bags I have on my wish list. This series is usually reserved for paid subscribers, but is available to all subscribers for the next week before it goes behind a paywall!
Remember, purchase only what you think you’ll get a lot of wear from. If you already have a little black bag, don’t order another. If you have a go-to tote that goes with everything, keep it that way. And if you are thinking about buying any of the below, take a few days before adding to cart. I personally keep a Google sheet where I add items I want with the link and price and wait 48 hours to see if I still want it.
Below, you’ll find my everyday purse, the tote I don’t travel without, my must-have evening bag and the designer purse I splurged on and don’t regret.
What I’m rewearing…
The Row Everyday Bag: My most worn, my most asked about, the most sold out bag in my closet. This bag single-handedly changed my whole approach to buying designer bags. Before this bag, I was in that exhilarating yet disappointing loop of chasing that high of buying something new and pretty and expensive, thinking I’ve found that *one* bag that will make me stop buying all others, only to get over said purchase in just a few months, causing me to repeat that process all over again in a year’s time when a new “it bag” came out.
That all ended when I got this one. It became my default bag — the bag I knew could fit most of what I needed and looked good with pretty much everything because of its nondescript nature and versatile style, two qualities that I feel make it timeless. It doesn’t boast a loud logo or trendy hue — you’d never know if it was current season or from years ago, unless you were an expert of The Row. I loved it so much, I got the same bag in a lighter color, which I found to wear nearly just as much as my original one in Espresso. One of my favorite things about this bag? I only know one other person who has it, which is not the case when everyone runs out to buy the same bag each season (ex: me during the #newbottega craze).
The style of bag is nearly sold out everywhere, but I’ve managed to find it new in black here, secondhand here, and in cream, also secondhand, here and in white here.
