Sooo if you’re already subscribed (thank you!) or following me on Instagram, you may have learned I gave birth recently, which I detailed in a very personal piece on my experience with pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. That piece alone took me weeks to finish. I had written a majority of it just days after giving birth in the height of all my feelings, but putting it together, editing and re-reading and re-writing took longer than I had anticipated. It was tough having to relive it over and over when writing the piece and I wasn’t sure I would even share it, but I’m so glad I did. It was cathartic and so validating to read all the messages from those who felt or experienced similar things.
Between writing that, learning that I’d need to be induced, the birth itself and figuring out how to take care of a newborn, it’s been hard to find the time to do a little roundup of my monthly favorites, so I’m combining May and June’s below!
On my body…
The new Cou Cou Pant in 100% cotton with a soft elastic waist and low rise fit. It’s so light and airy — perfect for summer — and so versatile, which adds perfectly to my list of pieces on heavy rotation. I can easily wear them with a vintage Ralph Lauren button down, secondhand Chanel suede flats and Mejuri silver cuff as I can with a pair of heeled sandals, simple white tee, The Row bag and Lié Studio necklace (pictured below!).

I know cotton poplin pants are quite popular right now, but as someone who has tried on MANY and found most to be bulky and baggy in all the wrong places, these are so much more flattering and fall nicely. I’ll be wearing these all summer and beyond, especially as I’m postpartum and much of my closet (still) doesn’t fit!
I’ve also been wearing Cou Cou’s Iris Slip in Black, which I wore on my husband and I’s first date night since having the baby to Ramy’s show, and now eyeing their cotton tank which would pairs nicely with their matching trousers.
These secondhand Chanel suede flats (also worn in both photos above) are my new go-to shoes and I have to say, I wear them SO much more than the Chanel flats I bought in Paris years ago. It’s kind of nice that someone else broke them in so I can enjoy them now that they’re comfortable. The flats I purchased were quite painful and are sadly collecting dust in my closet.
On my skin…
I’ve hardly left the house and with that, have hardly touched my makeup bag so besides the silicone strips on my c-section scar? Pretty much just my skincare and shower must-haves including my favorite lip balm, cleanser, serums, eye creams, moisturizer, body wash and lotion.
In my home…
I recently visited Studio Bugambilia, a small business founded by my dear friend
who sources vintage home decor from Mexico, and came away with a beautiful silver jewelry dish and silver flower vase.On my tongue…
My friend Puno so kindly set up a meal train for me and my husband, which is so so helpful for anyone who could use some support during major life events, like a new baby, illness or loss. I can’t begin to explain how helpful it’s been to have food taken care of when we’re navigating the newborn trenches and have no time to cook or clean. If you know anyone who’s having a rough time for any reason, I’d highly suggest setting up a meal train for them! I hope to pay it forward and do the same when it’s time for my loved ones to give birth.
Some favorite meals and treats we’ve received so far: Baklava ice cream from Kinrose Creamery, brisket banh mi from Pho Ever, Hainan fish rice from Yang’s Kitchen, shrimp sinigang from LA Rose Cafe, acorn squash pizza from Triple Beam, beef roll from Pine & Crane, crispy rice salad from Sqirl and fish sisig from Nova’s Grill.
On my wish list…
The Emna Skirt from
The Kyoto Carpenter Pant in Chocolate from LESET
The Ava Shirt by T. LINE in collaboration with my friend
The Cotton Blend Bias Pant from Vince (which I already own but are currently too small on me postpartum, so am looking into a bigger size!)
The Emmy Earrings in Pearl and Silver from Wolf Circus
The Lilu lace top from Reformation
The Le Pliage Tote in Mocha from Longchamp
On my restacks…
Will AI finally force us to look in the mirror? by
Why weren’t they shaken by the conundrum of living? How did they just accept that one day they blinked open their eyes and they were alive? How did they just take it at face value and then run with it? That this was the only way to exist? That now they could just focus on soccer practice, or grocery store runs, or getting that promotion.
Why haven’t you all been wondering why we exist?
Nobody Has A Personality Anymore by
Everything about us is caused, categorised, and can be corrected. We talk in theories, frameworks, systems, structures, drives, motivations, mechanisms. But in exchange for explanation, we lost mystery, romance, and lately, I think, ourselves…
There are no generous people anymore, only people-pleasers. There are no men or women who wear their hearts on their sleeves, only the anxiously attached, or the co-dependent. There are no hard workers, only the traumatised, the insecure overachievers, the neurotically ambitious…
My worry is that after a lifetime spent trying to explain themselves, solve their strong feelings, standardise their personalities, and make sense of every experience, a generation might realise that the only problem they had, all along, was being human.
porn stars are a girl's best friend by
No amount of medals in the authenticity olympics amounts to feminism in the sense of advancing the position and wellbeing of women on the global stage…
the problem with ‘influencing’ is that it puts everyone within arm’s length of celebrity, such that it seems reasonable to do things to your image that are actually totally unnecessary for your day-to-day life and relationships…
here’s my hot take: people who are not porn stars or celebrities do not need to look like porn stars or celebrities.
On my screen…
Desperate Housewives. I’m not usually much of a TV person, but between the feeding and the contact naps with the new baby, I have a lot of time on my hands. I have never watched this show before and I cannot believe I’ve waited this long — it is so funny, so good and so easy to binge. Edie Britt is by far the best character, by the way.
