Join Seen Library and art curator and fellow book lover Antoine J. Girard for an intimate morning at Arcana Books in Los Angeles, where each guest will choose from a curated selection of wrapped art books. These books contain visual images from historically excluded artists that convey impactful messages about the world at large — sometimes more effectively than words can.

Through the book giving and following discussion, we hope to expand our collective understanding of and relation to art and as always, provide a space for meaningful conversation and new friendships. This event is open to everyone — for anyone simply interested in art and books.

“It’s not by mistake that we don’t feel comfortable when we go into these places… It’s a part of keeping a certain demographic of people feeling better than or entitled to… Everything they want to preserve is built up in some of these spaces, especially with art. A certain class of people were able to express themselves. A certain class of people were not, historically… We create so many things but are constantly stolen from or not attributed or not cited. It’s important for us to discover who we are when we go into these spaces because so much of it is already ours.” — listen to AJ’s full clip.
